Supporting the Ministry
When you contribute to a church, you partner with God and with us to share the good news with people. God delights when we work together to support each other in sharing His goodness and grace with the world around us.
Thank you for partnering with us!
Welcome to Worship!
We’re so glad you stopped by because we are so excited about what God does at Zion and through Zion into our community and beyond. God inspires and challenges us to walk with Him as He reaches out to each of us all with love and joy over what it means to live with His amazing grace!
Why Worship?
“I don’t need a building.” You’re exactly right. Neither do we, but a meeting place gives us the opportunity to rub elbows with others, to realize that we’re all in this same crazy world, that we can benefit from the encouragement of others, and that knowing God personally makes life better.
An Invitation
God accepts you just as you are. He accepts us, too. Whatever your background or past, we would love the opportunity to meet you, to get to know you, and to offer what we are able to share which will make your journey here more joy-full and enriching. Thanks, in advance, for giving it some serious thought.
We Gather for worship on Sundays,
8:00 am & 10:30 am
Useful Information
If you’re new to worship at Zion, it’s common to wonder how or why certain things are done. We want you to be comfortable the first time you visit, so to give you a little head start at getting to know us, we can answer a few common questions.
Style
If you’re familiar with “traditional” and “contemporary” in regard to the style of worship, we’re in the mostly traditional camp. What that essentially means is that we have a basic flow (“liturgy”) to our worship service which includes the important gifts we get to share, such as forgiveness, prayer, sharing the faith, reading God’s Word, and thinking through the wonderful things God invites us to consider with Him.
Music
Our music may not be concert style, but music speaks to our hearts in ways that are more heart-provoking than spoken words. Our music comes from songs which have been enjoyed for generations as well as the songs that are being written and shared in the past few years. We even have a choir which loves to share some of the really impressive songs which Christians have written to celebrate the greatness of God.
Length
We all have a lot of things to do - finish this, fix that, cook this, watch that, and the list goes on. It is important to make time for the important stuff or it will never get done. We aim to keep our worship services around the 60 minute mark. Sometimes, a little more more, sometimes a little less. By the time you get back out into the world, though, you’ll be a much more inspired, joy-filled person.
These are great moments, awesome moments to connect with God and with others who follow Him in order to prepare ourselves for a better week ahead
Leader
Leaders encourage us to step into the unknown with confidence. Our leader is a pastor, trained at the world-renown Concordia Seminary here in St. Louis. He leads most of our worship services, teaches many of our classes, and helps all our leaders hear God’s Word and be led by God’s love.
SEating
We love that we’ve moved beyond hard chairs. We love that we have cushioned pews, which are like long, luxury benches and they always have plenty of room to spread out. As far as the “Where do I sit?” question, our response is, “Sit wherever you will be the most comfortable.” Just so you aren’t surprised, like a lot of churches, most of our people tend to sit toward the back. We’re not sure why, but it is kinda funny.
Children
“We have kids.” Perfect. “But our kids make noise sometimes.” And aren’t their little voices precious? We love kid noise. In fact, we’re glad to have kid noise because it reminds us that there’s a generation who will carry on with the faith and step into our shoes when we are no longer at worship. Kiddos are so important to us that we even have a children’s message every worship service!
