Organizations & Activities

Altar Guild - Sylvia Grannemann
The Altar Guild is responsible for maintaining the altar (cloths and paraments), arranging the different banners, refilling the candles, flowers, preparation for Communion and clean-up.

The Council serves as the administrative board of the congregation. It is composed of the elected officers (President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Financial Secretary), the Elders, and Superintendents of all Committees. All Voters are invited as non-voting Council members. Meetings are held on the second Monday of every month at 6:30 P.M. to conduct the business of the congregation.

The Elders assist the pastor in the spiritual care of the flock, in admonition, in cultivating harmony and charity and in promoting the general welfare of the congregation. They assist in developing orderly worship services and assist at the Sacraments as required. Meetings are held monthly.

Grounds Keeping
Teams are formed throughout the summer to mow and maintain the yard and cemetery grounds. Normally, each team mows only four or five times per year.

Handbell Choir
Zion is blessed to own two octaves of handbells. We currently seek a volunteer Bell Choir Director to conduct weekly practices and to schedule performances September through May. A desire to praise God and some knowledge of music are helpful.

Office Volunteers
Office volunteers help the Church Secretary to collate and fold the weekly worship folders, the monthly newsletter (The Messenger) and other projects. Contact Kim in the church office.

Prayer Chain - Lois Peterson
Our prayer chain continuously lays before our gracious God any special requests for family and friends concerning any special needs.

Rummage Sale - Jackie Staffhorst
In September, Zion hosts an annual rummage sale. All congregation members can bring any item that can be resold at our sale. The proceeds from the sale go towards sponsoring our children’s Christian education.

Sunday School - Kim Dent, Superintendent
Zion offers Sunday School classes for children from the age of 3 through high school. Sunday School is at 9:30 A.M. every week.

Ushers / Greeters - Larry Nord
Ushers and greeters are responsible for greeting those who come to worship with us, distributing the weekly bulletins, helping with communion and special services, and collecting and counting the offering. Usher teams serve every third month in either the early or late service.

Vacation Bible School (VBS)
Zion hosts Vacation Bible School for one week during the summer for children age 3 through 6th grade. Help is always welcome in the areas of crafts, songs, lessons, snacks, games and skits.

Vocal Choir - Dr. Mark Laverty
The choir meets once a week for practice from the Fall through Spring and then alternates the services at which they sing (one week 8:00 A.M. service and the next week 10:30 A.M. service).

Youth - Chuck Mueller
Volunteers help the Youth Director with Sunday Bible study, planning and executing Youth events, fund raising, and promoting the spiritual welfare and camaraderie among Youth.
